While still fully engaged in the business himself, he helped to educate other professionals by teaching estate planning in the Department of Insurance at a state university, and teaching classes for the National Association of Insurance Financial Advisors (NAIFA). Later he served as the Kentucky state president of the latter organization. He also became president of the Lexington, Kentucky chapter of the Society of Financial Services Professionals and the Lexington and Bluegrass Estate Planning Councils. He was elected for a two year term to New York Life’s Agents Advisory Council serving as Secretary. He is a life and qualifying member of the Million Dollar Round Table, which is recognized throughout the world as the standard of excellence for life insurance sales performance in the insurance and financial services industry.

He is a charter member of The Nautilus Group®, a service of New York Life, which was established for the Top Agents in New York Life. It is a resource for help in developing advanced estate and business cases, as well as in reviewing estate planning and business documents. In addition, he is a Registered Investment Advisor Representative with Eagle Strategies, LLC, which gives him access to over 900 mutual fund families and enables him to have access to some of the best money managers in the world. Being licensed with Eagle Strategies, LLC, has enabled him to become a fee-based planner, charging fees based on assets under management. In order to better serve his clients, Larry formed Wealth Coach of Kentucky, Inc., and is presently CEO of the company.

In order to be able to expand his operations, service more clients, increase his staff, and train protégés who can carry on the business after his retirement and ultimate demise, Larry became a District Agent for New York Life. To make certain that his clients and his District Agents have the best available products in the market place that fit their clients’ needs, he is associated with Ash Brokerage, as well as other brokerage operations, to provide products that are not available through his primary company.

Larry’s pride and joy and the delight of his life is his wife Grace Anne Botts. His passion is to mentor and encourage young people who want to become entrepreneurs and teach them how to work for themselves. His desire is to help create economic development opportunities in Kentucky with primary emphasis on Intellectual Capital and Technology. He also wants to help create employment opportunities through education and training to ensure that American youth have the opportunity to become productive citizens, which in turn enables the economy to grow and generate opportunities for future generations. He sincerely believes in helping people who want to help themselves! He believes that character, creative thinking, calculated risk-taking, hard work and education are the keys to success. He believes in the results-oriented economy and not in the time-and-effort-oriented economy. He believes that God placed us on this planet to promote His Kingdom and to help others.

His hobbies include: extensive reading; travel; public speaking; fishing and hunting; and participating sports, such as bicycling, swimming, hiking, racket sports, golf, and physical fitness activities. He enjoys spending his spare time at his mini farm and residence Provident Crossing, near Midway, Kentucky, and developing his rural recreational properties and tree farms in Eastern Kentucky.

He is deeply involved in his church, faith-based organizations, civic and charitable organizations. Realizing the great value of education, he promotes all forms of education, including elementary, secondary, college, graduate school, and especially adult education. He believes education is necessary to train people, regardless of their age, for economic opportunities which will provide a productive living for their families and to make their communities better places to live.

Larry’s outside business pursuits include residential and commercial real estate development, and Angel Investments -- especially those which promote economic growth, development of rural forest land for timber production, and recreational activities. He also served as a director of a regional bank for 20 years.
